Resolving train overcrowding
Sydney is one of the few major cities without a metro rail network. To be clear the underground network in Sydney is actually part of the greater suburban lines, designed for commuters travelling to the outer suburbs with double decker carriages and seating, whilst a metro is a high volume short distance circular network of trains that can move many people efficiently around the inner city and usually are mainly standing, single decker carriages to allow multiple doors for fast entry /exit of the carriages. Not only does Sydney have major overcrowding problems, but short distance travellers often take the seats intended for the longer distance commuter. The state government has talked about building a metro, but if it happens it is years away at best. Is there an intermim solution to beat the overcrowding?
