Taxation funded superannuation
With governments moving away from providing age pensions and encouraging indivuduals to invest in superannuation to fund their retirement, the simple question is why doesn't government do this for us so that everyone has a decent superanuation payout and are not needing to 'gamble' with their futures? Taxes could be structured to include a fair amount from different income structures and invested by the government in the same way our superannuation schemes do, except they would be not for profit and therefore more money to the investors, as well as no unfair risk to any one section of society of their fund failing and being left without a decent financial future. It removes much of the risk and inequality, as well as the burden on the individual to know how much to invest etc.
